La Iglesia de Espanol

I went to the Clinton Spanish church today with my Aunt. We signed the guest book and went in for Sabbath school. When church came around and it was time to introduce the visitors and they announced that they had two gifts for the first two visitors who had signed the book. Well there was a visitor that had come in before us so he went up and received the gift. My aunts name was next, but she wouldn't go up because she goes there every once in awhile. So they called my name to go up. I kind of froze and had a moment of fear. But finally I got up and walked to the front and received the gift. It was nice of them, and they were all very friendly. It was a good experience and I was able to see alot of people that I knew.

I am English speaking, but I have also had ambitions to learn Spanish. But I have not been very successful because I have not had the time to study and I have no one among my family or friends to practice with.

I keep seeing advertisements for Rosetta Stone, a set of language courses. It seems good, but I have never tried it. But it is a little pricey for me. What I like about it though is that they have separate courses for European Spanish (Spain) and New World Spanish (Mexico and Latin America). They are the only language course that makes that distinction that I have found. This is good because there are some differences in the dialects. If I ever take the course, I want to take the New World version of Spanish.

Sometimes I watch Spanish TV and that helps. I can pick out words here and there and even learn a few words just by listening.

I am also a seventh day Sabbath keeping Christian, but not with the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Good luck with your Spanish studies.
